Welcome to Blue Nandina Studio!
I am a North Carolina artist and I work primarily in Photograms and abstract mixed media painting. I really enjoy playing with color, shape and composition in all of my work.
Photograms are created from scratch in the darkroom, no camera, no negative. I start by putting natural objects on the photographic paper and expose it to different colors of light. The bold colors and shapes that are unique to each print are revealed when I develope the paper.
My abstract painting combines watercolor paint, chalk pastels and ink.
As this site grows you'll find the most comprehensive collection of my work and lots of info about my techniques and inspirations. Take a few moments to explore the site and I'd love to hear from you if you have any questions or interest in my work.
